Transference

Transference reflects on the exchange of material and memory between people and place. Created from cotton dyed with beech bark and ivy from a single tree felled for the showcase, the work incorporates rust from donated metal fragments, bringing the imprint of the community directly into the fabric. The process of natural dyeing becomes an act of transformation — organic matter and oxidised metal leaving their trace upon the textile surface. In this way, Transference embodies the passage of colour, history, and connection from the landscape and its people into a shared material form.
